How to Fit and Use the PetSafe® Easy Walk® Harness
Identify the Parts of the Easy Walk® Harness
O-Ring
Rests just behind the shoulder blades.
No-Pull Attachment
Martingale loop helps prevent pulling when leash is connected to the D-ring.
Shoulder Strap
Adjustable strap that sits across your dog’s shoulders.
Belly Strap
Adjustable strap that sits under your dog’s chest. Strap is a different color than the rest of the harness.
Chest Strap
Sits across the front of your dog’s chest. Features the no-pull attachment
Fit the Shoulder Strap
Step 1
Unsnap the belly strap, which is a contrasting color, and loop the shoulder strap over your dog’s head so that it rests across his shoulders.
Step 2
Adjust the shoulder strap using the metal slider so that the O-rings sit above and behind your dog’s front legs.
Fit the Girth Strap
Adjust the belly strap using the metal slider. Once the belly strap is adjusted and connected by the quick-snap, the shoulder and belly straps should form a vertical line.
Check the fit of the straps. They should be snug enough to only fit 1-2 fingers between the shoulder strap and your dog. If you try to rotate the harness, it should not slide across the fur. Rather, your dog’s skin will move with the harness.
This snug fit is particularly important. These two straps combined create the foundation to keep the harness in place. This keeps it from causing uncomfortable rubbing and chaffing.
Fit the Chest Strap
The chest strap has two adjustable points. Adjust the sides evenly, so the martingale remains in the center.
For example, if you estimated an adjustment of one inch, adjust each slide on the strap by ½ inch. The chest strap should fit horizontally, not drooping down or easily riding up close to your dog’s neck.
Check the Fit
Check the final fit after adjusting. The correctly fit harness is snug and creates a sideways T-shape with the O-rings above and behind the front legs. The chest strap fits horizontally and is snug without pulling the girth straps forward.
If the harness does not fit as described, more adjustments will be necessary.
Dogs may tense up while being fit the first time. Check the fit after a few minutes and adjust as necessary.
