How to Disassemble and Clean the 60 oz and 90 oz PetSafe® Outlast™ Fountain

Important Information

Always remove the bowl from the fountain base before rinsing or cleaning the bowl. The fountain base contains the fountain’s motor and electronic components and is not waterproof; do not rinse it or submerge it in water.

Clean the fountain every two to four weeks or as needed. You may choose to clean the fountain every 3 weeks when the filter is changed.

Disassemble

Unplug the power cord from the outlet and the fountain.

Take Bowl Off Fountain BaseTake Bowl Off Fountain Base

Lift the bowl off the fountain base.

Unscrew Lid and Remove Spout, Cone and TrayUnscrew Lid and Remove Spout, Cone and Tray

Rotate the lid counterclockwise and lift to remove. Then remove the spout, cone, and tray from the bowl.

Remove FilterRemove Filter

Remove the filter. Discard the filter if it has not been replaced in 3 weeks or more. Replacement filters can be purchased on PetSafe®.com.

Clean

Dishwasher SafeDishwasher Safe

If the fountain is slimy, it is recommended to first hand-wash the fountain parts in a 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar. Then wash with a mild dish detergent and rinse thoroughly with warm water.

The bowl, tray, spout, cone, and lid are dishwasher safe only when placed on the top rack.

Reassemble

Once all parts are clean and dry, reassemble the fountain with a new filter.

Fill with waterFill with water

With the tray in place, fill the bowl slowly with water to the ledge where the white bowl meets the clear top. Only fill from the bowl, not the tower, to avoid motor damage. Do not overfill.

Plug the power adaptor into the wall and then the base of the bowl.
