How to Disassemble and Clean the PetSafe® Viva™ Fountain
Important Information
- Fountains should be cleaned every 2-4 weeks.
- Replace the Ion-X™ filter every 2-4 weeks.
- Replace the foam filter every 1-2 months.
Multiple pet households may need more frequent cleanings.
Do not use harsh cleaning chemicals or citrus-scented cleaning products.
Unplug the fountain from the wall and disconnect the USB plug from the adaptor.
Empty any remaining water from the fountain.
Important: To avoid spills, tilt the fountain back slightly and water will pour through the tray vent into the bowl.
Remove the tower tray, filter housing and rubber cap.
Remove and discard or rinse the foam filter.
Do not clean filters with soap.
Remove and discard or rinse the Ion-X™ filter.
Disassemble and clean the pump by hand using a mild detergent or a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water. For more information on cleaning the pump, visit How to Disassemble and clean the PetSafe® Viva Fountain Pump.
Disassemble the rest of the fountain and clean each part with soap and water. You can also place each part in the top rack of the dishwasher.
Do not place the pump or adaptor in the dishwasher.
