How To Find My Dog’s Recognition Level for the PetSafe® 300/600/900 Yard Remote Trainer
What is the Recognition Level?
The recognition level is the lowest static stimulation level that your dog begins to notice. Always start at the lowest level of stimulation level and work your way up. You are looking for a reaction from your dog, such as a head nod or an ear twitch. Your dog should not vocalize or panic when receiving a stimulation. If this happens, the stimulation is too high, and you need to go back to the previous level.
Finding the Recognition Level
Take your dog to a calm environment where they are unlikely to be excited or distracted.
Turn the collar on by pressing and holding the power button until the collar beeps low to high and the light flashes green.

Unlock the remote by pressing and holding both buttons on the left side.
Make sure your remote is set to the correct dog. Press the Dog 1/2 button on the right side of the remote to toggle between dogs.
Select level 0 (vibration only) using the level adjuster buttons on the left side of the remote.
Press and hold the vibration/static button (top-right button) for 1 to 2 seconds and watch for your pet’s reaction.
If your pet shows no reaction, move to static stimulation level, level 1.
If your pet shows no reaction, repeat this static stimulation level several times before moving to level 2.
Continue increasing the static stimulation levels until your pet reliably responds.
Important: Please note that during instances of high or extreme distraction, higher levels of stimulation may be required to get your dog’s attention.
If your pet shows no response at level 15, check the collar fit on your dog again. Then restart at level 0.
