How To Make the Crystal Litter Last Longer for My PetSafe® ScoopFree® Crystal Classic Self-Cleaning Litter Box
Location
The crystal litter trays last longer if placed away from areas of high humidity such as bathrooms, showers, and basements. Place the ScoopFree® litter box in a room with moving air to pull away moisture, such as a room with a fan.
In high-humidity locations, a dehumidifier can help keep your trays lasting longer.
Time of Year
Different seasons have different levels of temperature and humidity. You may find the litter trays last longer in dryer months or have a reduced life in wet or humid months.
Types of Litter
We recommend only using our PetSafe® Brand litter as it is specially designed and pre-measured to work with ScoopFree® Self-Cleaning Litter Boxes.
This also applies if you are using the PetSafe® ScoopFree® Reusable Litter Tray.
Stir the Crystals
Stirring the litter will distribute saturated crystals,
- which will also help cats who consistently urinate in the same spot or do not dig.
- may help the tray life for cats that are ill or have high urine output.
Be sure to mix in the crystal litter from behind the rake and along the sides of the litter box, but do not mix in litter from under the waste trap.
