How to Repair a YardMax® System with an Amplified Signal

This article will walk you through how to address an amplified signal after confirming the issue by performing a Systems Test. If you have not yet completed a Systems Test, please visit How to Perform a Systems Test On the YardMax® In-Ground Fence™ System before beginning.

Secure your pet(s) and remove collar(s) before proceeding.

After completing the Systems Test, remove the short wire used for testing and set your system back up the way it was prior to the test.

Verify the wall unit is in a suitable location.

  • At least 5 feet from any metal with consideration to the other side of the wall it is mounted on
  • In a climate-controlled environment
  • At least 5 feet from a circuit breaker box

Ensure there are no large metal objects sitting near the boundary wire.

Visit PetSafe® In-Ground Containment- How to Splice Your Wire to ensure the appropriate splices have been made. Wires that have been crimped, soldered, or connected in any fashion outside of the recommended method will cause issues with the signal in the wire.

Ensure you have the proper settings on your wall unit.

If your layout is a double loop, you must have your AB switch set to B.

For newly installed systems- Verify the wire is NOT:

  • Within 5 feet of itself or any other wire or underground utility-Even dead wires can cause issues
  • Laying within 5 feet of the house
  • Being run over the top of the house
  • Indoors, except where the twisted wire enters to connect to the wall transmitter

For newly installed systems- confirm your layout will work as intended by contacting Customer Care.
