My Dog Is Breaking Through the PetSafe® Happy Ride® Metal Dog Barrier
Ensure the barrier has been properly adjusted for a secure fit in your vehicle. If the adjustments are too loose, the barrier will be easy for your dog to knock it down. All four rubber feet should have a snug fit against the ceiling and floor of the cargo area. The oval tubes should not move up or down the support rods. Apply mild pressure with your hand to test. The barrier should not shift in any direction. If you experience movement, visit our article How To Adjust My PetSafe® Happy Ride® Metal Dog Barrier.
If the barrier is adjusted to be secure but your dog can unseat it, your dog may need additional training to become comfortable with this new level of restraint. Take a few 10-15 minute sessions to sit in your vehicle with your dog behind the barrier while the vehicle is not in motion. Praise and reward good behaviors. Once your dog is comfortable behind the barrier, you can introduce short trips and continue to reward the behaviors you want to see.
