My PetSafe® Automatic Ball Launcher Doesn’t Launch Balls

Important Information

Always power the ball launcher OFF before troubleshooting or inspecting inside the working area of the device.

Ensure the ball launcher has power. When the unit is powered on “I” and is operational, the light will be steady green. If you do not see a light after confirming the power switch is on, visit our article My PetSafe® Automatic Ball Launcher Has No Power.

Confirm the ball launcher is not in Rest Mode. For your dog’s safety, the Ball Launcher will only play for 15 minutes at a time, then rest for 15 minutes. When the launcher is in Rest Mode, the light will flash orange once every 10 seconds.

Confirm there are no pets, people, or objects within 7 feet of the front of the unit. The launcher has a motion detector in the front and for safety purposes, will not launch the ball if it detects something in front of it.

Ensure you are using the appropriate balls. The launcher is designed to use standard-size tennis balls that are 2 5/8 inches in diameter. Larger balls may jam in the launch pocket. If using smaller balls, the ball sensor may not properly detect the ball in the launch pocket.

Ensure there are no other objects in the hopper or launch pocket. If the sensor detects a foreign object, it will not launch. Power the unit OFF and clear any debris.

Always power the ball launcher OFF before troubleshooting or inspecting inside the working area of the device.

Clean the sensors. If the sensor becomes dirty or obstructed, the ball will not launch. Power the unit OFF and use a soft cloth to clean the motion sensor on the front and the four sensors in the working area of the unit.
