My PetSafe® Automatic Ball Launcher Has an Error Light or Tone

Important Information

An error is indicated by a red light flashing once every second and 3 tones of the same note.

Always power the ball launcher OFF before troubleshooting or inspecting inside the working area of the device.

Clean the sensors. If the sensor becomes dirty or obstructed, the ball will not launch. Power the unit OFF and use a soft cloth to clean the motion sensor on the front and the four sensors in the working area of the unit. For detailed information, visit our article How to Clean My PetSafe® Automatic Ball Launcher.

Ensure you are using the appropriate balls. The launcher is designed to use standard-size tennis balls that are 2 ⅝ inches in diameter. Larger balls may jam in the launch pocket. If using smaller balls, the ball sensor may not properly detect the ball in the launch pocket.

Check that there are no other objects in the hopper or launch pocket. If the sensor detects a foreign object, it will not launch. Power the unit OFF and clear any debris.

If you are using batteries, make sure they are not rechargeable. They should be D-cell Alkaline batteries. Make sure they have adequate charge and replace if they are low. Low batteries are indicated by the light flashing red 3 times. For more information, visit our article How to Replace the Batteries in My PetSafe® Automatic Ball Launcher.
