My PetSafe® Big Cat Door Flap Is Getting Stuck or Not Staying Closed
Make sure the door’s Push-&-Turn™ 4-way lock is in the correct position. For more information, How to Change the 4-Way Lock Setting on My PetSafe® Big Cat Door.
Inspect the pet door for damage. Examine the interior and exterior frame and flap of the pet door. If damage is found, replace the pet door.
Ensure the cat door is clean. For more information, visit How to Clean and Maintain My PetSafe® Big Cat Door.
Loosen the mounting screws by a half-turn each. The plastic can expand or contract as the seasons and temperatures change, causing tension on the frame.
Ensure the cat door is level in your door cutout. The cat door must be level for the flap to swing and close properly.
If the above does not resolve the issue, remove the pet door, and see if the flap opens and closes freely. If not, contact customer care.
If it does move freely, inspect the cut-out. The original cut-out made during installation may be too small. This can place stress on the pet door frame causing it to bow inward and not allow the flap the space needed to swing freely. Depending on the material of the door, you may be able to use a file to widen the cut-out. The pet door should fit into the cutout without much pressure or being forcibly inserted.
