My PetSafe® Extreme Weather Sliding Glass Pet Door™ Flap is Getting Stuck or Not Staying Closed

Ensure there is no debris or dirt buildup blocking the magnetic strip at the bottom of the flaps or in the frame of the pet door that may prevent the flaps from sealing properly. Wipe with a damp rag and clear the debris if necessary.

Inspect the flaps for damage. Ensure there are no tears or warpage, and that there is no damage to the magnetic strip on the bottom of the two vinyl flaps.

To test for warpage, remove the flap assembly and lay it on a flat surface. For detailed instructions on removing the flap, visit our article How to Replace the Flap on My PetSafe®Extreme Weather Sliding Glass Pet Door™.

If any flap does not lay flat or damage is found, replace the flap assembly. Similar replacement flaps can be found on our website, however there is only one flap assembly that is compatible for this pet door. Replacements can be purchased from our website here.

Inspect the pet door for damage. Examine the interior and exterior frame, and the magnetic strip in the threshold of the pet door. If damage is found, replace the pet door. Replacement pet doors can be purchased through our website here.
