My PetSafe® Guardian® GPS Fence Base Unit Has a Solid Red Light

A solid red light on the base unit indicates the base unit does not have an internet connection.

Confirm your internet is currently working by checking other devices for a signal.

  • Place the collar(s) next to the base unit, ensure all collars are powered on.
  • If your base unit is not the only device affected: reset your Wi-Fi router.
  • If your base unit is the only device affected: perform a soft reset to your base unit by pressing and holding the multi-purpose button for 3-5 seconds. This will reset the unit’s Wi-Fi module but will retain your Wi-Fi credentials.
  • Please note if you hold this button down for too long this will disconnect the unit from your Wi-Fi. This will be indicated by an alternating red/blue light.
  • You can re-connect your Wi-Fi by:
    • Opening the My PetSafe(R) app
    • Selecting your system from the products list
    • You will then select settings and Wi-Fi Network
    • You will then re-connect your Wi-Fi by choosing Update Wi-Fi and following the on-screen prompts.

Confirm your base unit is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band.

  • Eliminating any Wi-Fi extenders and mesh networks may be necessary.
  • If the base unit is connected to a dual-band router, it may be necessary to separate the Wi-Fi bands, so the base unit is connected only to the 2.4 GHz band. Contact your internet provider or the router manufacturer for assistance.
