My PetSafe® SMART DOG® Collar Keeps Disconnecting

Something to Know

Anytime you close the My PetSafe® App, the connection will be lost until the app opens again.


To reconnect, open the app, select the SMART DOG® Trainer collar you want to control, and after a brief loading screen, the connection will be regained if the collar is on and in range.

Frequent Disconnections

If you are experiencing frequent disconnections not related to closing the app, other Bluetooth devices connected to your phone may be interfering. Disconnect other Bluetooth devices temporarily to see if there is improvement.

Ensure Correct App

Ensure you are using the correct app. The original SMART DOG® App is still available for download but has been discontinued. The My PetSafe® App is the app needed. It is available in your phone's app store or by clicking the link below.

Multiple Phone Use

Your collar can be recognized by multiple phones using a collar pin. However, the collar can only be connected to one phone at a time. Close out the My PetSafe® app on any additional phones.
