My PetSafe® SSSCAT® Spray Pet Deterrent Does Not Spray Every Time
Power off the spray unit by adjusting the power switch to the right “O” position.
Remove the spray can.

Power on the spray unit by adjusting the power switch to the left “|” position and wait 2 minutes for the sensor to calibrate.
Pass your hand in front of the sensor about 1 foot away and listen for the spray unit to click. Wait about 40 seconds between each test.
- If you do not hear the spray unit click after a few attempts, replace the batteries and try again. If there is no clicking when tested with the new batteries, you will need to replace the spray unit. Replacements are available on our website here.
If you hear the spray unit click, power the spray unit off and reattach the spray can.
Clean the spray nozzle.

Power on the spray unit and wait the 2-minute calibration time, then test again by passing your hand in front of the sensor. If the unit sprays, you are ready to use.
- If the unit does not spray, replace the spray can and repeat the test.
- If the unit still does not spray after replacing the can, you will need to replace the spray unit. Replacements are available on our website here.
If the unit sprays consistently when tested, but does not when your pet passes by, you may need to move the spray unit to a different location or adjust the settings of the motion sensor.
