Confirm the proper settings are set on your wall unit. Your wall unit has an A, B, C, switch on the side. Your ABC switch setting is determined by the amount of wire you have in the ground. Choose your appropriate setting using the guidelines below:
- Most users will need to set their setting to B. less than 1300 feet of wire in the ground. You will only typically exceed 1300 feet of wire when containing more than one acre of property with a single loop, or approximately 1/2 of an acre with a double loop.
- If you have more than 2400 feet of wire you would use setting A. 2400 feet of wire is used to contain 8 acres of property with a single loop or 4 acres with a double loop.
- If you have more than 1300 feet of wire, but less than 2400 feet of wire, you will set your unit to C. This setting is used when you are containing more than 1 acre but less than 8 acres of property with a single loop, or ¾ of an acre to approximately 4 acres with a double loop.
Confirm that there are no large metal objects within 5 feet of your wall unit or your wire.
- For newly installed systems: Verify that the wire is not laid within 5 feet of underground utilities, wires, or a neighboring containment system.
- For recently repaired wires: confirm HERE that the correct splices have been made.
