Setting Up Your New Simply Clean® Automatic Litter Box

Assembly Video

As you set up your new Simply Clean® Automatic Litter Box, keep in mind:

  • Setting up the litter box will take about 30 minutes.
  • It will take your cat a little while to get used to the new litter box; the amount of time needed depends on your cat’s temperament.
  • Only use clumping, scoopable, clay litter in the Simply Clean® Automatic Litter Box. Do not use cat litter that contains baking soda.

To set up the Simply Clean® Automatic Litter Box:

Lower the bowl base onto the conveyor base, lining up the gear on the conveyor base with the opening in the bowl base. Press down firmly on the bowl base until it snaps into place.

Place the litter bowl on the bowl base. Place the litter guard on the top edge of the litter bowl, lining up the contoured edge of the litter guard with the posts on the conveyor base.

Attach the conveyor to the conveyor base:

  1. Insert the long post (at the back of the conveyor) into the hole at the back of the conveyor base.
  2. Press the short post (at the front of the conveyor) into the hole at the front of the conveyor base.

You should be able to raise and lower the conveyor easily once in place.

With the conveyor raised, plug in the conveyor motor by clipping the red power cable into the connector on the conveyor base.

The clip on the connector should face the front of the litter box.

Lower the conveyor and tighten the two thumbscrews to secure it.

Flip the waste guide down into place.

Insert a carbon filter into the brackets on the underside of the conveyor cover. The white side of the filter should face down (toward the conveyor cover).

The carbon filter helps reduce odor from the waste bin. For maximum odor control, replace the carbon filter at least once a month.

Place the conveyor cover over the conveyor.

Line the waste bin with a bag and insert it into the litter box.Use a small thin bag such as a plastic grocery bag or a4-gallon trash can liner.

Fill the litter box with litter to the maximum fill line.

To keep the litter box working smoothly, avoid over- or under-filling the litter box, and use only clumping, scoopable, clay cat litter.

Important: If you have a kitten, leave the litter box unplugged until she is at least 6 months old.

Insert the small end of the power adaptor into the connector on the back of the litter box. Plug the other end into a standard wall outlet.

The indicator light on the front of the litter box will glow green when the litter box is correctly assembled and plugged in.

The litter bowl will begin rotating as soon as you plug the litter box in, but since it moves very slowly and is whisper-quiet, it is unlikely you — or your cat — will notice the movement. The litter box cleans for 30 minutes and then stops for 30 minutes, making one full rotation every 90 minutes.

Optional: To check the rotation of the litter bowl, unplug the litter box and then place one piece of tape on the bowl base and another on the litter bowl. Plug the litter box back in. After a few minutes, the two pieces of tape should be several inches apart.

Your litter box is set up and ready to use. To keep your litter box running smoothly, empty the waste bin when it starts getting full, and perform this simple cleaning every two weeks.
